Larry Dinoff | President
Larry earned degrees in both architecture and mechanical engineering and has spent more than 30 years as a nationally recognized expert in safety and construction standards. He began volunteering at Rebuilding Together projects out of his conviction that having a safe and comfortable place to live is a basic human right. He is pleased to have been offered a chance to also contribute as one of its board members. When he isn't building furniture, Larry kayaks, fishes and bicycles. He and his wife Sandy are avid birders, gardeners and aspiring chefs.
Jennifer Lieber | Vice President
Jennifer has lived in Chestertown since 2001 with her husband, Chip, and their three boys. She has worked in the architectural field since 1990 with firms such as Centerbrook Architects of Centerbrook, Connecticut, on a broad array of projects from museums to residences. Since 2014 her focus has been on universal design, adaptive reuse and ADA compliance in buildings, parks and townscapes. She is the Administrator for the Delaware Architectural Accessibility Board as well as a national ADA consultant. Jennifer also volunteers with the Sultana Education Foundation on their construction projects as an ADA reviewer and is the Task Force Chair for the Lawrence Wetlands Preserve and Nature Center.
Max Ruehrmund | Treasurer
Max is an award-winning, licensed architect with 35 years of commercial and residential design experience with significant knowledge of building systems, construction and administration. Currently, he is designing and overseeing the construction of waterfront and non-waterfront residential homes as well as small commercial projects in Kent, Queen Anne and Cecil counties in Maryland. Max dedicates his efforts to helping people realize their vision for their homes or businesses, knowing that those spaces can bring success and joy to his clients and those around them.
Meredith Beach | Secretary
Meredith currently works out of her home in Chestertown as Legislative Counsel to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). In this role she reviews and writes local, state and federal legislation related to animal welfare issues, including pet friendly affordable housing. Prior to joining the ASPCA she worked on housing policy issues at the federal, state and local level. Meredith moved to Kent County in 2022 and has been renovating her house in Chestertown. When she’s not working on her house, she enjoys kayaking and curling up with a good book and her pets.
Gregory Ayers
Greg and his spouse, Jean, moved to the Eastern Shore from southern Pennsylvania in 2018. Having spent most of his life engaged in one do-it-yourself home improvement after another, Greg decided to start Adept Home Services, a home improvement company, to help others less handy in and around Chestertown. Prior work experience has included the fields of investigation, finance and management. Greg feels blessed to have worked with individuals from every walk of life and embraces the opportunity to utilize his knowledge and skills in a way that gives back to the community.
Lou Malzone
Lou moved to Chestertown in April of 2019 after having retired to Whidbey Island, WA in 2003. His career has been primarily in the financial services industry, holding banking positions ranging from consumer collections to Assistant Vice President with responsibilities for centralized loan approvals, loan servicing operations, and later consumer loan product development. Toward the end of the 1980’s, Lou became self-employed and developed accounting software for the mutual finds industry specifically for the personal computer platform. In addition to Rebuilding Together Kent County, his volunteer work in Chestertown includes driving for Homeports.
Vic Pfeiffer | Past President
Vic is a retired Senior Human Resources consultant for a national firm assisting corporate clients out of their Washington, D.C. office with their total rewards strategies. Since moving to Chestertown in 2008, Vic has served on several local boards including the Garfield Center for the Arts and ShoreRiver’s Chester Advisory Board, and also helped job coach individuals with intellectual disabilities. "My passion is to try to help those in our community who for various reasons, need assistance. Rebuilding Together meets that goal because we help worthy people who through no fault of their own, need assistance staying safe, warm and dry in their homes.”
Clara Rankin
Clara A. Rankin is a retired litigation attorney and teacher, and she proudly serves on several community organizations. Though she has visited every state, and lived in some, returning to Maryland routinely has always felt like coming home. She believes that we help ourselves by helping others, that our purpose in life is connection, and that we display our faith through compassion. She is an outdoor enthusiast and has never met a dog that she didn’t love.
Deborah Scott
Born and raised in Kent County, Deborah Scott spent 20 years in the US Army, 11 years working for the US Postal Service, and also managed an in-home adult day care for many years. Now, Deborah says that Rebuilding Together Kent County is an opportunity to allow God to rebuild Deborah. With a long career in her past, she is excited to team up for the future of Kent County residents. She has always wanted to fix things around her home but didn’t have the knowledge or tools. That started to change when Rebuilding Together came into her life in 2021. “To help a resident enjoy a safer home is a joy to God.”
Andrew Wright
Andrew grew up in Talbot County, Maryland and first moved to Kent County in 2008. After moving away for five years, Andrew and his wife Sarah were afforded the opportunity to return to Chestertown in 2020. Andrew has always liked to build and repair things, a skill that he learned from his father growing up. Andrew and Sarah have restored two homes together, a 1930's bungalow in Alabama as well as their 1870's Victorian home in Chestertown. Working on these projects, Andrew learned many of the skills and experienced the "joys" of home renovations including plumbing, electrical, framing, carpentry, and tiling. Andrew believes that having a safe place to live is critical for everyone and enjoys applying the skills he has to help others.
